Drywall, steel studs, and ceilings across the North Shore
Doing walls and ceilings since 2014

North Vancouver, since 2014
What we do
Karsan & Philip Wall and Ceiling is a drywall contractor based in North Vancouver, working across the North Shore and Greater Vancouver since 2014. We board, tape, and finish walls and ceilings for homeowners, builders, and general contractors. That covers houses, condos, multi-unit buildings, and commercial interiors. Steel stud framing, all levels of finishing from 1 to 5, textured and T-bar ceilings, fire taping, and repair work on ceilings another trade has opened up. If you are not sure what your job needs, send a photo and we will tell you.
How the work goes

1 / Frame and insulate
Studs set, insulation and vapour barrier in. Everything that is going to be wrong later is decided here.
2 / Board and fire tape
Board hung, fire tape, seam tape.
3 / Finish
All levels of finishing, 1 to 5. Under 1,000 square feet we can also prime and paint. Beyond that, we recommend trusted contractors for painting.
Before you call anyone
What is a Level 5 finish, and do I need one?
Level 3 and 4 are the standard for walls in normal light. Level 5 adds a full skim coat for rooms with big windows or strong natural light. No visible seams, joints, or nail pops. Level 5 is where no light can find a seam. It costs more and takes longer, and if your job does not need it, we will say so.
Can you patch it, or does the whole ceiling come down?
Usually we can patch. A patch is faster and cheaper, and if the texture is matched properly you will not find it afterwards. Full replacement is for board that is soaked, sagging, or damaged across too many seams to blend. We will tell you which one you are looking at when we see it.
Do you remove popcorn ceilings?
Yes. Popcorn, stipple, and texture are the same ceiling with three names, and we remove or flatten them. We do not do asbestos remediation. In older homes the texture should be tested first, and we do that too. See our asbestos testing page.
Should I hire one trade or two?
Under 1,000 square feet, one trade can take a room from bare studs to painted. One crew means one setup, one prep, and one cleanup, instead of paying two companies for each. If your painter is doing the colour, we finish and prime first so everything is ready for them.

What clients say
Jazmin F., Google review
"We've had him in three separate times over the past few years for ceiling and drywall projects. We could not be happier with the quality of work and professionalism. An honest contractor that is always looking out for the client and making sure the scope stays within budget."
Carmanah Counselling, Google review
"He was collaborative and a great communicator through every step of the way. He was able to work within my budget and we worked really well together to manage timelines, permits, licensing. The work was very well done and completed within his estimated timeframe."
OTE Print, Google review
"Karsan & Philip did excellent work on a demolition and drywall repair job for our shop. Top notch site protection for the demo phase and great quality on the repairs and a rebuild of a bulkhead."
Paul A., Google review
"The first time he restored most of my ceilings which were worn, sagging and showing tape damage. Then, several months later I had a roof leak which resulted in damage to two areas of the newly restored work. In both situations he did a wonderful job. He is a true master of his trade."
